Teens Learn that Money Count$

Top 10 Ways Teens Can Make and Save Money

 

Every Tuesday, October 2 - November 6, 2007, 6-8 p.m.

 

Money Count$ for Youth will be offered this fall at the Brightmoor Community Center, located at 14451 Burt Road, in Detroit. Youth ages, 13-18 years old, are eligible to participate in this six week series. It will provide training on money management, setting goals, budgeting, investment, insurance, careers and entrepreneurship.

 

The program will be offered in partnership with Charter One Bank, United Way of Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM) and National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE).

 

Registration fee is $10 per person. Fee waived for Brightmoor residents. Donations for youth to participate in this program are accepted.

Connections Teen Relationship Skills

Every Saturday, October 13 – November 17, 12-1:30 p.m.

 

teenboy.jpgLIFE will offer its Connections Teens Six-Week Relationship Series, which starts October 13 and runs through November 17, 2007. This evidenced-based after school program will provide relationship skills and drug prevention training to teens, ages 13 to 18 years.

 

The program will be held every Saturday, from 12-1:30 p.m. at Wayne State University, located at 7800 W. Outer Drive, in Detroit. The teens will be taught essential skills in developing healthy teengirlworried.jpgrelationships, including: self-esteem, peer pressure and mediation, conflict resolution, problem solving, dealing with disappointment in nonviolent ways, abstinence, drug prevention, help-seeking resources, and much more.

Learn knitting basics: how to cast on, count stitches, pick up stitches, and more.  On crocheting, learn how to chain, single crochet, double crochet, and much more. Bring crochet hook – size I (9.5mm), 1 set of knitting needles – size 17, and 1 skein of yarn.
